Rain?

Amidst the scorching heat with temperatures reaching 35-40 degrees Celsius everyday, I was informed by a friend that it was raining in her locality. On hearing the news, I rushed to my bedroom window to check the weather outside. From my window, I saw people rushing towards their own windows and balconies, and pedestrians from the street, all gazing expectantly at the sky. The sight was comical in itself, but also seemed to be mimicking sunflowers looking at the sun or baby fledglings looking towards their mother for nourishment.

Inserting a clarification here; a couple of people looking up in the house in front of my building were only doing so to supervise the repairs going on there 😢😢😢

It has now been 5 minutes since that ray of hope begun, a little wind, a little drizzle, a little rumble from Thor, but so far nothing has occurred to satisfy the scorched and parched land-dwellers. Since condensation releases heat, I am dreading the imminent possibility of another heat wave with higher temperatures.

Just like every year on the 8th of April, it has rained in my city today as well. The first rain of the summer season occurs every year since I have begun to take notice, on the 8th of April. It also happens to be the birthday of a friend of mine, which is the reason for me to take notice in the first place. The repetitive character of an event to occur in nature on the same day every year indicates a cyclical permanence to life. Some events still happen, irrespective of an individual's state of mind, misery or happiness, health or illness. Nature does not wait for anyone.  Life does not wait for anyone. In mulling over the small irregularities and concerns, we forget that we are just a speck of dust in the cosmos. We are as insignificant in the larger picture as significant we are in the smaller picture. Our lives hold no meaning but at the same time they do.

Currently, my life is a great deal meaningful to me, as in my pursuit of cool winds, I opened the windows for a tad too long and let in a mini-storm carrying multitudinous dust particles inside. AND I have left the light on in the kitchen as I type this, so I must rectify my mistakes as soon as possible before they get discovered by my parents. So, off I go, cleaning up my messes and bidding adieu for now, still clutching to hopes of torrential rain from above.
