Trauma And The Winter Soldier (MARVEL) (Spoilers)

Marvel in association with Disney released a new episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier(TFATWS) yesterday. All the following opinions are my own, I am not a licensed psychiatrist/psychologist, nor a film critic. Spoilers for those who haven't watched the show. I happened to watch the movie about the Winter Soldier (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) before I watched the movie about Bucky (Captain America: The First Avenger). And now I am watching one episode after the other as it releases on Disney Plus.  I feel for James Buchanan Barnes, aka Bucky, as he is forced to fight battles he doesn't want to, again and again, especially when he confessed in the first episode that he had a little calm in Wakanda. He had decades of relentless fighting before and after Wakanda. I only wish that by the end of the series he gets the calm and rest he so amply deserves.  As we watch Bucky sigh and ask T'Challa where the battle was in Infinity War, we see a worn individual, hatin...

Differentials

The curious case of a doctor wondering about the origin of her own maladies. She is hardly the first one to do so. Most times, the easiest thing to do is ignore the cause and go forward with the treatment. In this case, it was a little burning sensation in her eyes. Was it because she slept too much, or because she traveled in 37 degree Celsius weather amidst a heatwave, or was it her eye cream she isn't yet sensitized to? Maybe it's the cream, yeah, she put on too much. Either way, she could not study or expose her eyes to electronic glare. She had to wash her face repeatedly to get some semblance of a cooling effect over her eyes.  Maybe it was the stress of it all.  Do our bodily functions misbehave when they want us to cool down, or do we subconsciously cause our body to dysfunction when we are bored with life? Do we self-harm to get out of responsibilities, or does harm occur to us as a sign to not take that path we are so hell bent on striding upon? Life f...
